Do I have to pay to use BasePack?

The mobile app is also free with basic core features. There's an optional Pro subscription at $2.08/month (billed $24.99 yearly * depending on location) that helps cover server costs. Pro unlocks cloud sync, AI list generation, offline maps, and weather.

Is the gear database accurate?

Our gear database is crowdsourced from the community. While we do our best to verify popular items, weights can vary by size and model year. We recommend weighing your own gear for the most accurate pack weight.

How can I contribute to the gear database?

When you add a new custom item to your inventory, you can choose to "Submit to Public Database". Once approved, it helps other hikers find weight data for that item.

How do I sync my data across devices? (Mobile Apps)

Cloud sync is available with BasePack Pro in the mobile app. Simply sign in with the same account on all your devices, and your lists, journals, and inventory will sync automatically.

How do I cancel my subscription? (Mobile Apps)

For iOS: Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → BasePack → Cancel Subscription.
For Android: Go to Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → BasePack → Cancel.
For Web: No subscription required.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings in the app and web. This action is irreversible and will permanently remove all your data from our servers.

Is my data secure?

Yes. For mobile users on the free plan, your data is stored locally on your device. For Pro users and web users, data is securely synced to the cloud using industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. Read our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I export my data?

Yes! You can export your packing lists as CSV files at any time. Go to any list, tap the share button, and select "Export as CSV".
